cranberry tantrums: Statement Pieces || Patterns

Today I am playing with a whole lot of patterns, and fighting with the wind I might add.

Each piece of this outfit are old and I was delighted with the results of this pairing adventure. Especially because each statement piece was individually purchased at different times (even years apart) and without the other piece in mind. Coincidentally, the pants and top match perfectly!

Pairing patterns can be a little tricky but here are some tips. Sticking to the same color palette on the top and bottom makes the look appear pulled together. Pairing smaller versions of the print on top and a larger version on the bottom prevents you from looking wider than you really are. Also, adding a closet staple like a Blazer in a solid color adds some contrast and tones down all the pattern play for a chic refined look.
